Fostering Research and Collaboration: ATBC2025 Grant Opportunities

​

We are pleased to announce the availability of grants for participants attending the 61st Annual Meeting of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation (ATBC) in Oaxaca, Mexico. These grants are designed to support students and post-doctoral researchers in presenting their work, networking with peers, and gaining valuable experience at an international conference.

Please note: The number of available grants will depend on the availability of funds and the budget for the event.

We encourage eligible candidates to apply early and submit their abstracts for consideration. These grants aim to make the conference more accessible and foster a diverse, global community of researchers dedicated to tropical biology and conservation.

Deadline for Submissions: April 4th, 2025

    • 1) Travel Grants: To partially assist with the cost of travel to and from the conference venue (up to USD 500)

    • 2) Registration Fee Waivers: For participants who require financial support to cover the conference registration fees

    • Must be a current member of ATBC or apply for membership along with the grant application

    • Preference will be given to students, and postdoctoral researchers  applicants from low-income countries and Latin-america with accepted abstracts. 

    • Must have submitted an abstract for presentation (in symposium,  oral session or poster session) or an organized session at ATBC2025

    • Demonstrate financial need and potential impact of attending the conference

    • Applicants who have already paid the registration fee may still apply for a grant. If selected, they will receive a reimbursement for the registration fee.

    • Grant recipients will be required to serve as volunteers for a few hours during the conference, assisting with tasks such as session monitoring, registration desk support, or other event-related activities.

    • General information of the applicant

    • Brief CV or Resume: Highlighting academic achievements and research experience

    • Statement of Intent: Describing how attending ATBC2025 will benefit your research/career and contribute to tropical biology and conservation (max 400 words)

    • Abstract Submission Confirmation: ID of the abstract submission for ATBC2025

    • Letter of Recommendation: From a supervisor or academic mentor (for student applicants)

    • Please upload a letter or any documentary proof from your related institution (pdf)

    • In the case of travel grants, estimated budget associated with your participation in the conference. (e.g., transport, accommodation, meals, etc.) and how much for each item. Please indicate the amounts in USD. 

    • Application Deadline: April 4th, 2025

    • Notification of Decision: Late April, 2025
